  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

Public schools in the United States , Isn’t it funny how they are now trying to stop parents from watching classes online. These teachers and the teachers unions or a nervous wreck that we will find out what they really have been teaching our children, most of all what they haven’t been teaching our children .

Yeah, Johnny can't read, but he's certainly being taught what a racist, privileged, white piece of shit he and his parents are.

School is about to start in Canada and it’s a gong show. My kid is going for half days every other day and his schedule is messed up. I haven’t heard that we aren’t allowed to sit in on the classes though. I’ve decided to tutor my son in math this year, so I was planning on watching some of the classroom work

That's an interesting development. I had not heard that they don't want parents sitting in on the classes.
That would immediately alert my Spidey senses.

Technically there's nothing stopping any parents from sitting silently off screen taking notes. After all the schools don't get a say on where a person chooses to sit in their own home. About the only thing they could rightfully have a say in is parents that disrupt the classes if they disagree with the subject matter being taught or how they are taught.

Things like that I believe should be treated the same way you would voice grievances for normal schooling.

We had an upset mother when she found out that our kids were being taught about evolution, apparently she disagrees with science.

Are public schools the private schools that you have to pay for like in the UK?

Private is a school you pay to attend. Public is for general public. Its different than the U.K.

Private you pay and Public schools are paid by property owners.
So you pay for both when you send your kids to private school.

When I was a kid :oldman:...parents were allowed to and did sit in class anytime they wanted, I remember wondering why a parent was sitting in back of the class in a tiny kids desk, very noticeable

I remember one kid that got caught cutting class so his Mom came to school and sat in the back of all of his classes for a whole day wearing a robe and slippers.
I suspect he didn't cut class again. lol

I have seen this from multiple sources in multiple school districts. They send papers home requiring parents to sign a document saying they won't sit in on their children's on-line classes. Thankfully, my children are all grown.

I also saw the not sent to parents in the Fairfax, VA school district. It asked that parents not home school or set up education pods because it would increase the learning gap between the haves and the have not's. Well no shit Sherlock. Disadvantaged students will suffer the most from remote learning public school.

Wow. No way in hell would I sign a document stating that I would not sit in on my child's class to observe what was being presented.

I don't actually think they don't want parents involved in the process as long as they control it. But rather not having parents take issue with what is being taught and or how. Then either making complains or worse case actually disrupting classes.

Personally I have listened in on several of my niece and nephews classes and had to hold my tongue when the subject of slavery came up. Especially when the teacher didn't mention indentured servitude or the fact slavery existed many of other places in the world before and at the same time it was being established in the US. Including in some sections of Africa with little or even no involvement of white people whatsoever.

The parents were there, students never knew why or who they belonged to, we were told to just ignore them

That is so wrong on so many levels.

If it is organized correctly it works.......problem in most places is online classes have been run like in person classes and it requires a higher level of validation and monitoring and time.

When my kids were in the early grades, I used to look through their textbooks, later in high school I asked them if there was political bias, (they knew me by then),
they said there wasnt but I also know they probably wouldnt want me knowing there was because I did go to parent teacher conferences

Pre retirement we had online "in services", classes,... safety, first aid, regs, certifications, mandatory continuing education, if you will, tests at the end, at random you had to hit a key to show you were still there paying attention and not sleeping, ....
... seems simple enough to set up for high school

My kids are doing a hybrid of in school and online learning... the younger is in school full day 5 days a week because the classes can be kept small
The middle schooler goes to in person classes on Monday and Wednesday, then has online Tuesday and Thursday. Our district has opted for asynchronous learning so they are given daily assignments that they complete on their own. Their teachers are available throughout the day to assist with any questions but they are not required to sit thru endless hours of zoom classes. Our parents have full access to all of the online material including recorded classes and Zoom meetings. In fact here we are encouraged to watch with our children. Our district has worked extremely hard to make the transition from in person to online as seamless as possible. I don't expect the kids to be attending in person much past the middle of September anyway.

Sending home letters telling parents they are not allowed to listen to classes would never fly here.

Key word if organized correctly. Unlike regular schooling which has had decades to work out flaws. This has been put into place in a hurry. Guess what that means it's guaranteed to face problems both anticipated and unanticipated.

Well for example internet access is spotty at best in certain areas and at worse none existent in others. So the kids can't always log in to classes. Then there is the only oversight of the kids being someone on the other side of a computer screen. Which that same person is only able to monitor what's visible on their own screen. In many cases this is just a tiny little window amongst many others.

No this is at best just a stopgap measure and those are always going to be flawed. In time numerous other issues are going to show themselves. Leaving the question to be asked if it was worth it for many the kids not to just go for their GED or seek out some sort of other alternative.

Internet access is pretty much comprehensive in the Netherlands and the government gave each student a tablet when online classes started.
